2011 and 2020, our league offers a fun and developmental experience that builds soccer skills, fosters teamwork, and cultivates a lifelong passion for the game.
- Led by Directors from our Vaqueros Futbol Club (VFC)
competitive club and experienced professionals, we create a supportive environment where every player thrives.
- No make-up games or practices due to weather or unforeseen issues (e.g., field closures).
- Mutual friend requests (both players requesting each other) are considered but not guaranteed.
- Multiple friend requests are not allowed to ensure balanced teams.
- No refunds if friend requests are not met.

Leading the Herd with Passion and Purpose!
The Vaqueritos Recreational Program is proudly guided by Poway’s own, Nick Pince, our newly appointed Director of Recreation for Poway Youth Soccer League (PYSL).
A trailblazer in our soccer community, Nick began his journey right here, in our "city in the country". After playing high school soccer at Mt. Carmel, Nick continued his playing career at CSU-Northridge and Point Loma Nazarene.
Nick's passion for coaching began inside our PYSL Rec program, volunteering to coach his oldest son's rec team. Since then, Nick coached multiple All-Star teams, rode into the competitive world of Vaqueros FC competitive soccer, and has lassoed U.S. Soccer’s National C License, with the B License course on the horizon.
To further enhance the Vaqueritos experience, Nick coordinates and hires VFC directors, staff coaches, as well as outside paid, professional trainers to provide a variety of recreational programs, including, but not limited to, fall gaming league, spring skill development play, and year-round clinics and camps. Thus, giving multiple options for our "little cowboys and cowgirls."
Supporting Nick on this exciting ride is Lev Kirshner, PYSL’s Chief Executive Officer and General Manager of Soccer Operations for Vaqueros Futbol Club (VFC). With over two decades leading the San Diego State University men’s soccer program, Lev’s teams battled against the nation's best college programs, participating in the Pac-12 Conference since 2005. In short, Lev brings a wealth of soccer expertise, including nearly 40 years of experience working with youth, to help guide and elevate the Vaqueritos program.
Together, Nick and Lev ensure that Vaqueritos offers strong organization, top-notch player development, and just good old-fashioned fun through the avenue of soccer.
The Vaqueritos program is also a RIDE that can LASSO our "little cowboys and cowgirls" toward the competitive side of PYSL programming. Once HERDED, the competitive arm of our organization, VFC, will TACKLE the process of developing more competitively-focused environments, supporting our youth as they chase GOALS, such as SCORING a spot on their high school team, SHOOTING for college scholarships, or HEADING into the professional ranks. At the end of this RIDE, we all WIN when our players carry the love of the beautiful game with them for life.
So...let's slip on our boots (i.e., cleats) and get ready for this soccer rodeo...because the Vaqueritos program is where the soccer journey begins, and the adventure never ends!
Vaqueritos Development Program
- A 6-week program run by Vaqueros directors, paid coaches and soccer professionals to enhance technical and tactical skills.
- Includes a free one-day clinic for all registered players to enhance the excitement of the coming season, boost confidence and prepare for the season.
- Focuses on age-appropriate drills to foster peer socialization, group dynamics, and physical fitness.
Weekly Practice
- One-hour practices start the week of August 256, 2025, based on coach availability.
- Schedules may adjust based on registration numbers and team formation.
- Practices emphasize fun, skill development, and team bonding.
Saturday League Games
- Season runs from September 6, 2025, to November 8, 2025, with games every Saturday.
- Played in a competitive league format with official scores and paid referees for fair, exciting matches (7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 divisions).
Calling Coaches (no experience Needed)
- Parent volunteer coaches needed! Your support makes our league possible.
- No experience required—free coaching clinics and ongoing support ensure you’re equipped to lead young athletes.

Get on the Bus Scholarship Program
If you attend a Title 1 school in PUSD and are looking for additional financial assistance, the Get On the Bus program could be for you!
Available to 2025 Fall School Year’s third and fourth grade students who attend a Title I Program school
